Emotional Intelligence 101

Corpsych Admin - Tuesday, October 19, 2010
So many people speak about Emotional intelligence but I have seen few really interpretations of what it really means.

Here are a few suggestions:

"Emotional intelligence is about the ability to manage plositive and negative emotions both within oneself and others
and the ability to effectively control strong emotional states such as anger, stress, anxiety and frustration".

"Emotions direct cognition:  so the extent to which emotions and emotional knowledge are incorporated in
decision-making and/or problem solving is extremely important....emotions are not the handmaiden of cognition...".

Being emotionally intelligent is something that can be learned, something that can be taught, something that can
change the way in which we do business.  It's never too late to learn!
